As a teacher, I’ve always felt that while donating money or material goods can help someone temporarily, offering your time to teach can light a path that lasts a lifetime. That belief is what led me to start Teach With Heart — an initiative rooted in the idea of charity through education.
This inspiration comes from my own life and, most importantly, from my mother, Smt. Mallika. She lost her parents at a young age and was raised with the support of kind relatives and compassionate neighbours. Against all odds, she pursued her education and became a science teacher in a small village school in Kayiliad. It was with the encouragement of the school management and a devoted teacher, Smt. Kamalam, that she got her first teaching job.
Because she had a stable job as a teacher, my brother and I were able to receive a good education. Her journey — from a child in need of support to a teacher shaping lives — taught us that education is not just a personal asset, but a gift that must be passed on.
Teach With Heart was born from this legacy. I started this initiative alongside my regular job with one purpose: to connect dedicated teachers with students who genuinely need guidance but cannot afford it. Our volunteer teachers donate their time to offer free academic sessions in languages, science, computer science, and also provide career guidance and counseling to those who need direction.
This is our humble effort to give back. If you’re a teacher, I invite you to consider this: even one hour a week of your time can be life-changing for a student.
